Life after Haunt

Haunt has been over for a few weeks now and life is almost normal again. My school and work schedule are still conflicting but that will fix itself when we are done doing tear down (strike) for Haunt. The in-park mazes are neatly packed away for next year and the backstage ones will be done soon. All around the park the traces of Haunt are nowhere to be found. Instead the air is filled with Christmas! We've been working steadily on the log ride transforming it from Red Moon Massacre to Elf Mountain. It sounds lame but go check out all of our hard work anyway! When strike is done I will miss my crew terribly. I've grown so close to these wonderful people, and while we've had our ups and downs, we've managed to stay great friends. When you think about Haunt, try to push aside thoughts of monsters, mazes and churros for a second and imagine how Haunt has brought many amazing people together and has created friendships that will last beyond the gates of Knott's. I'm proud to know that Haunt has brought so many great people into my life and look forward to seeing them all again soon.

Remembering 1st Night of Haunt

Post from Oct. 1

Last night was my first night of Haunt. I hurt all over ... mainly my back and hips. I attribute the pain to being an idiot and not stretching enough and burning myself out. Working in CS is like walking/running laps for 7 1/2 hours straight. OH THE PAIN! But it was definitely worth it. Being in CS is everything I thought it would be and more. I was nervous in the beginning but after some encouraging words from my new family I was ready to go. Granted I'll definitely not be hungry for PIZZA for a long time! I'd have to say that my favorite scare of the night was chasing this one boy who was probably around 12 through the entire gauntlet and into the vampire line, then back out to the enterance of gauntlet. The downside? It made me realize how out of shape I am! But I think I'll be in the best shape of my life by the time Haunt is over. All in all it was a great night and a tiring night and I am looking forward to getting back out there.

Surviving Scion/Power 106 Night

Post from Oct. 19

Oddly enough, the Haunt night most feared by monsters turned out to be one of my best nights! I turned one chick into a shivering mass of tears at the beginning of the night. The rest of the night I genuinely had a blast. I've changed my scaring tactics around a bit. In the beginning of the run I would get pretty mouthy with stupid guests and say rude things to anyone that looked deserving, but I've changed that. I started remembering when I first started going to Haunt as a guest when I was a wee lass and how much fun it was. I don't remember anyone really heckling me and I have great memories of those years. I want people to leave having the same memories and the same fun times that I had. So I'm a nicer monster now, ready and willing for PICTURES (WOOO!!!!!!!!!!) and kissing babies and holding puppies and.. *PUKE* hmm. But don't get me wrong, I've got a couple sarcastic remarks for those that have it coming. My favorite being this one:

Guest: "Hey you're cute."
Me: "Sorry, my standards aren't THAT low." OR "Nah, call me when ur balls drop."

But yes, tonight was definitely fun. The best part is doing "photo shoots" with Two-face, Pheonix and Dad (when he's around). SOOO much fun. :-D
